This year’s sell-out Ely Folk Festival was a riot of fun and festivities.
Up-and-coming Scottish band Barluath opened the festival on Friday evening and led a packed programme of performance and music, which was topped off by a set from Eddi Reader, who closed the festival on Sunday evening.
As well as performances across two main stages, there were ceilidhs, kids entertainment, workshops, music sessions and a well-stocked beer tent, featuring everything from Three Blind Mice, from Little Downham, through to Pickled Pig, from Stretham.
And the start of the festival was heralded, as ever, by the Morris procession, which danced its way through the streets of Ely on Saturday.
Stalls were selling everything from sculpture to pyjamas, while guests were treated to food from around the globe, from Jamaica to Wales.
Even a lightning storm failed to dampen spirits on Saturday, with many revellers dancing in the rain.
Fionnuala Lennon, from the festival, said: “This year’s line-up was one of our most exciting and varied for many years and it has really proved popular with music lovers.”
