Organisers of the 14th Exotic Cat Show championship branded the day “purrfect” with entries well up on last year.

Barbara McEwen, who organised the event with husband Stuart, said there were 82 entries compared with last year’s 66 with the numbers of Persians entered more than doubling from eight in 2014 to 20 this year. Mrs McEwen explained this was the second year Persians had been allowed to enter and people were beginning to get to know about the event, which was held at Tydd St Giles Community Centre.

Entrants came from all over the country for the show which has developed a large following since it was first put on in 1996.

Seven judges checked out the feline contestants to pick winners in a huge array of categories from the serious to the more fun classes like cat with the biggest paws or most unusual colouring.
