The holidays well and truly arrived in Ely today as scores of people welcomed the arrival of the famous Coca-Cola Christmas truck.
The festive juggernaut arrived in the city’s Market Place shortly after noon and was greeted by a long queue of excited visitors, who waited patiently for their chance of a picture.
An array of helpers dressed as Santa were also on hand to orchestrate some festive fun and games, play some Christmassy songs and, of course, hand out free samples of Coca-Cola to all and sundry.
The celebrations continue until 9pm when the truck will leave and continue on its tour of the region.
Ely was chosen as a stop-off for the iconic red truck as the city was voted the kindest in the UK following a survey of 2,500 people carried out by the drinks giant.
The study examined ‘good deed habits’ at the festive season and found that the people in Ely scored highly across all kindness factors - from volunteering to work for a charity over the festive period, to wishing a stranger Merry Christmas.
The city was declared best in the UK for people who would invite an elderly relative or neighbour into their homes for Christmas if they were going to be alone.
