Businessmen and women of the future were given a chance to broaden their horizons with a careers convention at the Neale Wade.
Pupils from nine primary schools visited the event to talk to people about jobs ranging from vets and children’s book illustrator to beauticians and armed forces personnel.
Almost 40 stands were on offer for year 6 and Year 10 students to browse to get an idea of what they might like to do in the future.
Guyhirn teacher Marie Lucca said: “it’s really inspired them to broaden their horizons and think about their future and the opportunities out there.”
Lucetta Crosskill, Westwood teacher, said: “Its been a great opportunity. It has opened their yes to the wide range of jobs they could do.”
Now into its third year, the event sees people from a wide range of professions man stalls for the day to give young people a chance to quiz them on their work.
Among those taking part this year were the RAF, Wood Green Animal Shelter, Anglian Water, the Ambulance Service and Metalcraft.
Smurfitt Kappa financial controller Simon Scrivens said: “days like today help children to think about what they are good at, what they might like to do when they leave school. They’ve been really enthusiastic which is great to see.”
Assistant Neale Wade principal Sam Mandley said the day always proved a big hit with young people and thanked everybody for giving up their time to make the day such a success.
The day was sponsored by Roddons Data Shredders and Bretts transport with refreshments thanks to Sainsbury’s and Tesco.
