Neale-Wade students donned aprons and let their creativity run wild for a Great British Bake-off style cake competition.
During the two-day competition, six bakers - four from Year 7 and two from Year 10 - were tasked with creating their own interpretation of a Victoria Sponge.
Judges were canteen manager Julie Watts, her deputy Chris Gilpatrick and the Rev Clifford Stocking of St Wendreda’s Church.
The competition was won by Courteney Stewart. Second place went to Milena Macadam, with Athena Charalambos in third.
The award for the lightest sponge went to Eloise Kemp.
Catering coordinator Zoe Clarke said: “The brief was a Victoria Sponge but within those confines they could do what they wanted. One student used lemon, another brown sugar and one made mini cakes. “It was a very high standard. The students were really proud of their efforts.
“In Great British Bake Off style, we are hoping to do a technical challenge and then a show stopper in the summer term.”
