YEAR 10 catering pupils from Neale Wade Community College invited FACET students, teachers and governors to a very special tea party.
Their kitchen was decked out with tables and chairs and guests were offered tea, coffee and trays full of delicious cupcakes.
From ‘chocolate fudge’ to ‘luscious lemon’, there was a cupcake to tickle every taste bud.
Zoe Clark, hospitality and catering teacher, said: “Each student made their own batch of cupcakes, so there were 18 different varieties.
“They have to put on an event to serve customers as part of their BTEC course and we decided it was best for them to serve people they don’t know.”
The students took orders and did all the washing-up.
FACET is a charity which provides a base for activities, training and community projects for adults with a range of disabilities from the Fenland area.
Karen Neilson, FACET learning support assistant, was thrilled with how the tea party unfolded.
She said: “We have been practising manners in class and working on social interaction so days like these are really useful.
“We do role plays so it is great for the students to put into practise what they have learnt while helping out the Neale Wade pupils with their coursework.”
