New pictures have emerged of a collision in which a 60-year-old woman suffered serious injuries.
The woman was trapped and had to be taken to hospital following a collision involving a car and a lorry on the A142 between Mepal and Sutton on Friday.
On Monday, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service released pictures of the scene, in which the woman had to be cut free from her badly damaged vehicle.
The road was closed for several hours as police and emergency services cleared the debris on Friday.
Magpas Helimedix flew to the scene of the collision to find a woman, in her 60s, trapped in the car with serious injuries to her lower body.
A Magpas spokesman said: “Our team sedated the woman and administered enhanced pain relief, whilst working alongside an EEAST Ambulance Crew and Rapid Response Paramedic at the scene.
“The patient was then accompanied by the Magpas team, in a land ambulance, to Addenbrooke’s Hospital - where on arrival she was in a serious but stable condition.”
The crash happened shortly after 2.30pm and closed the road between the roundabouts at the Mepal Outdoor Centre and at Sutton.
Firefighters from Chatteris, Ely and a rescue vehicle from Huntingdon were called to the collision near Iretons Way, Mepal.
An HGV and car had collided and one person was trapped. Police and ambulance were also in attendance.
Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to release the casualty and returned to their stations by 5pm.
