PRODUCERS promise it will be a show that raises eyebrows and smiles alike as the forthright and outspoken Paul Stainton took over the BBC Radio Cambridgeshire breakfast show for the whole of the county today.

Until now Stainton’s show has been broadcast in Peterborough and Fenland only but has now been expanded as the show hosted from Cambridge and presented by Jeremy Sallis has been axed.

Managing Editor David Harvey said Stainton had built a loyal following on 95.7FM and that there was now an opportunity for listeners tuning in on 96FM to hear his popular mix of creativity and fun as well as his “forthright and direct brand of journalism”.

He promised it would have “moments to make you laugh and cry, live from your doorstep, your street and your place of work.

“We’ve invested more journalism and technology into one breakfast programme that will break exclusive stories, challenge those in power and seek to represent all that’s positive, exciting, creative and innovative about this amazing county of ours and Paul Stainton’s new show will deliver all this and more to our audience.”

Mr Harvey added: “Jeremy Sallis had been a successful part of our 96FM output for a number of years at breakfast time.

“Jeremy’s new afternoon show from 3pm will develop further all that has made him so popular – his warmth, local knowledge and powerful personality. I know Jeremy is looking forward to the new challenge.”

Andi Harper will continue in his mid-morning slot, with Sue Dougan following at lunchtime and Chris Mann broadcasting in the tea time slot.
