People of all ages paid their respects at a vigil held in March last night to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.
They gathered at the town’s war memorial, where wreaths were laid and a candle was lit to remember the sacrifices of fallen soldiers, then made their way to St Peter’s Church for a service led by the Rev Jenny Webb.
The vigil and service, which was attended by 180 people, were organised by the Royal British Legion.
Ms Webb said: “After the lighting of the candle at the war memorial a congregation of 180 people came to St Peter’s Chruch for an act of commemoration and remembrance of the outbreak of the war and a commitment to peace in the future.”
