Two men are in a serious condition in hospital following a two vehicle collision on the outskirts of March.
The driver of a white Corsa van involved in the collision had to be cut free from the wreckage.
Police are now looking for witnesses to the collision which happened on a straight stretch of Upwell Road between March and Bedlam Bridge.
The driver of the van is in Peterborough City Hospital where he is in a serious condition.
The driver of the second vehicle, a black Astra, was also taken to Addenbrooke’s where he is in a serious but stable condition.
Police, fire crews and ambulances were quickly on the scene of the collision which happened shortly before 4.30pm on Monday.
The B1099 road was closed for some time to enable fire fighters and rescue crews to release the man from the white van.
Police on the scene paid tribute to a passing motorist who stopped to assist and stayed with the trapped driver until emergency teams arrived.
The collision has now been handed over to Cambridgeshire police traffic division to investigate.
Pc Martin Arrowsmith said anyone who witnessed the collision should call him on 101.
