Historical food was brought to life at an Edwardian garden party held at Wisbech Castle.
The castle grounds were buzzing with music by the Rusty Relics, the cookery team that is 4and20 Blackbirds and a house full of visitors.
King’s Lynn Town Band performed in a concert during the event that threw open the doors to the past at the original Norman Castle.
The castle, constructed by William the Conqueror, was subsequently developed by the Bishops of Ely and John Thurloe, secretary of state to Oliver Cromwell.
The present Regency villa formed the centre of a major redevelopment of the area in 1816, ensuring that the site has been continuously lived in for nearly a thousand years.
The building is owned and operated by Cambridgeshire County Council and used as a venue for meetings and training, school visits and is also licensed for civil weddings.
In recent years it has been used as a location for the BBC’s David Copperfield.
