CHILDREN at a Wisbech school ditched their school uniforms and instead dressed as pirates on a swashbuckling special themed day.
Year 4 pupils at St Peter’s Junior School, Wisbech, wore eye-patches, bandanas and hooks and carried swords as they immersed themselves in pirate folklore.
Clare Rose, Year 4 teacher, said: “We’ve been covering stories based in historical settings in class and decided to have a pirate theme.
“Children have been writing stories based on pirate characters and they did a range of pirate activities in the afternoon.
“They went on a treasure hunt in the school field, were shown how to make pirate hats and solved pirate codes.
“The pupils really enjoyed the day and the majority of the staff dressed up as well.”
