The eighth annual garden party at Neale-Wade Academy welcomed around 45 guests from the local community including representatives from churches, businesses and Westwood Junior School.
Produce, jams and cordial, all grown in the academy garden, were enjoyed by the visitors. There was also a plant sale, tours of the garden, potato digging and a game of bingo.
Stephanie Kerr, of Neale-Wade Academy, said: “Guests were really impressed by the neatness and productiveness of the Grow Your Own Garden which this year gained the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society 5* School Garden Award.
“The garden is maintained and developed this year by the youngest ever group of students from Year 7 – some of whom are just 12 years old.
“If anyone would like to support the garden in any way they should contact jholdich@neale-wade.org
