An annual Santa Run organised by Georges in March is expected to have raised more than £1,200 for a number of charities.

The fundraiser, which opened March Christmas Market on Sunday, saw children and adults put on festive costumes for a good cause.

Christmas jingles got everyone in the spirit before hundreds set off on the run, including representatives from charities including Ely and Fenland Little Miracles.

Nigel Marsh, owner of Georges, said: “Every runner had their reasons to take part, ranging from personal ones to just wanting to have a good time for a good cause.”

Tony Epps, who took part in the run for the second year in a row, said: “Last year’s event was so much fun for me and my two children that we thought it would be too good to miss.”

As well as the money she raised by taking part in the run, Georges worker Stacy donated the tips she earned at work in the two-week build-up to the event.
