People are being urged to take a direct interest in the running of their local doctors’ surgery by signing up to a patient participation group.

During Patient Participation Awareness Week (June 1-6), members of the The New Queen Street Practice Patient Participation Group will be on hand at the surgery, in Syers Lane, Whittlesey, to promote the work they do.

Since the group was started four years ago, they have worked with the practice to provide health and wellbeing events, introduce hand gel near the touch screen at reception and improve access to appointments.

The group has supported flu clinics, fundraised towards a blood pressure machine and scales for the surgery waiting room and set up a working party to negotiate to improve the service by Boots Pharmacy based within the surgery site.
