MEMBERS of the public are being invited to give their views on key areas of the new Local Development Framework (LDF).
The LDF will replace the existing Local Plan and will provide a framework for development in the district until 2021. It will take several years to produce and there will be various opportunities for the public and interested parties to get involved.
Two documents - Core Strategy and Development Policies Issues and Options and the Statement of Community Involvement Pre-Draft - are now available for public consultation until March 13, 2006.
The Core Strategy, a Development Plan document, is similar to part one of the current Local Plan. This plan sets out the long-term spatial vision and strategic policies for Fenland. This document introduces alternative options for housing and business parks in the market towns of Fenland.
The Statement of Community Involvement has to be prepared which will set how the council intends to involve local communities and stakeholders in preparing the LDF and in determining planning applications.
Community involvement and more sustainable development are key factors in these major changes to the planning system.
So, if you want to get involved and comment you can view the documents online at www.fenland.gov.uk
Alternatively, you can view the documents at any of the four Fenland @ your service shops in Wisbech, March, Chatteris and Whittlesey or Fenland Hall.
