1: Who are you?

Giles Garner, of Long Sutton.

2: What do you do?

I have just become the new and first full-time manager of Fen Ales Microbrewery at Weston Hills, near Spalding. It follows unexpected demands from the licensing trade, following the launch of our first real ale, Red Fox.

I am an experienced chef and used to working within the busy environments of pubs and hotels but decided to hang up my apron and face the challenge of running a microbrewery. My role takes on all aspects of brewing, distributing, selling and developing new products to add to the existing range targeted at pubs, hotels, social clubs and even private functions. We hope to have a special brew on sale in time for Christmas.

3 Why would people know you?

I have lived in this area all my life, I went to Peele School, and Isle College at Wisbech where I did a two-year catering course.

4 On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how do your rate your sense of humour?

I have been sat here giggling about what to say. The answer must be pretty good. I can find something funny in most things. I'd have to go for 9 or 10.

5 What was your last text message you sent or received?

The last one I sent was to ask a friend how his move went; he is moving from Yorkshire to Stratford on Avon with his family.

6 Give us at least five pet hates.

Rudeness, queues (including traffic jams), people being late when they have made an appointment, cost of things in general, people not drinking real ales.

7 Is it time for Britain to abolish the Royal Family?

No, I do think we need them. They're good for us.

8 Are you enjoying the smoking ban in pubs and why?

As it happens I am. I am a smoker but have been trying to give up it, so the ban has helped me. Beer tastes better anyway. Some pubs have suffered admittedly but those are where the landlord has to use his ingenuity to get people in.

9 What is your favourite item of clothing in your wardrobe, and why?

Capped boots. I'm a chef used to doing 10 to 12 hours a day on my feet so my feet

being comfortable is a priority.

10 Where is the capital of the Fens and why?

I would probably go for Wisbech. I have always considered Wisbech because it's got the River Nene, and the port. It's also expanding and growing - long overdue.

11 Which TV programme sends you to the off button?

Bizarrely enough the cookery programmes. I'm a chef but there are just too many cookery programmes. I don't watch them. The only exception is Gordon Ramsey but the rest are off the list.

12 If you had £1,000 to blow what you would do with it?

It would be clothes. Possibly a holiday but mainly clothes.

13 What football result do you look for first and why?

I have never been a big fan but I did support Liverpool when I was at school, and the fact they are doing better is good.

14 Name a town or country you would never want to return to, and your reasons.

Basingstoke. I worked there once as a relief chef and a friend warned me about the residents and I actually went into the town once. It's a lovely place but meeting the locals is like meeting the cast of Lord of Rings. Very bizarre people.

15 Who would you most like to sit next to on an aircraft and why?

My father died 10 years ago and I wouldn't mind having a sit and chat with him to say all the things we missed when he was alive. He was born and bred in Sutton Bridge.

16 Who would you cross the road to avoid?

Most politicians, I just think they are on another planet and I wish I lived there because it was must nice.

17 What is the worst job you have ever had to do?

I struggled to think of one and I have had a variety of jobs from working in hospital kitchens to being a security guard. But I have always tried to see the positive about getting to where I wanted to be it. I've always made the most of everything and always tried to find the best in everything.

18 Who was your childhood hero and why?

I'd have to say Spiderman. Just think he had spider sense.

19 If you weren't doing your current job, what else might you have chosen?

I've been a chef for number of years and was looking for an out which would have been something involved with catering but not so hands on. Perhaps it's not the time to ask since I have just started a new career.

20 Your claim to fame.

I have been on Blue Peter. I used to work on film sets doing catering for stars. I did Dangerfield and Tim Vincent came along from Blue Peter for some filming. As I was seen on the show I got a badge. I asked for one for my niece but you had to be on show to get one, so she didn't.

Some friends and I raised some money for charity a number of years. We weren't the sort of lads wanting to run a marathon but we drank a gallon of ale each in three hours.

21 What's your biggest regret in life?

Probably letting a true love get away.
