1 Who are you?

Jim Gardner

2 What do you do?

I'm a garden designer/landscaper

3 Why would people know you?

I run the local branch of the Motorcycle Action Group, the March Hares, which meets on Monday evenings at The Rose & Crown in March. We are doing a ride-out tomorrow (Saturday) at 11am from the pub to the Savages MC Custom & Classic Bike Show at the Dun Cow, Christchurch. It'll be about 40 miles and the show is free and so is the ride out. Anyone is welcome; just turn up.

4 On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how do your rate your sense of humour?

About nine

5 What was your last text message you sent or received?

A very funny joke from a friend. Sorry I can't repeat it here.

6 Give us at least five pet hates.

People who drop litter, idiot politicians who think I need protecting from myself, whingers who think it is the job of the state to wipe their backsides, all the unnecessary signage around the town bridge in March, poor customer service.

7 Is it time for Britain to abolish the Royal Family?

Probably not, but I don't much care either way.

8 What is your favourite item of clothing in your wardrobe, and why?

My 'Draggin' jeans. They are a cotton combat trouser with Kevlar lining much more comfortable on the bike than leathers.

9 Where is the capital of the Fens and why?

I don't think there is a capital. It could well be March, which is growing fast both in terms of residential and commercial expansion. For better or worse, or should that be, for better and worse?

10 Which TV programme sends you to the off button?

All of them.

11 If you had £1,000 to blow what you would do with it?

Ask my wife.

12 What football result do you look for first and why?

What's football?

13 Name a town or country you would never want to return to, and your reasons.

Doncaster, chav scum shouting abuse and threatening passing motorists on the High Street in mid-afternoon. Black and yellow bollards with panic intercoms to the police every hundred yards and all of them vandalised. It's a total dump. I pity the decent folk who have to live there.

14 Who would you most like to sit next to on an aeroplane and why?

Ted Simon, author of the motorcycle travel book Jupiter's Travels. He spent four years motorcycling around the world on a tiny budget. He must have hundreds of fascinating, funny and amazing tales that didn't get told in the book.

15 Who would you cross the road to avoid?

There is a very smelly woman who wanders about in March and I regularly do cross the road to avoid her.

16 What is the worst job you have ever had to do?

Sorting thousands of shampoo bottles by checking the batch numbers on the base. Drove me nuts, I quit after having nightmares about them.

17 Who was your childhood hero and why?

Clint Eastwood. In the spaghetti westerns he always looked after the weak and gave the bad guys no quarter.

18 If you weren't doing your current job, what else might you have chosen?

Travel writer. Not hotels and resorts but real travelling on foot, motorbike or train meeting local people and writing about the adventures and experiences.

19 Your claim to fame.

I recently designed several gardens for some 'AAA' list celebs here and in Madrid and southern France.

20 What's your biggest regret in life?

Putting up with rubbish jobs for far too long. Tthere is always another option.
