1 Who are you?Jane Greenwood.2 What do you do?Customer adviser at Nationwide Building Society in Wisbech.3 Why would people know you?I've worked at Nationwide for 21 years and always lived in Wisbech. I've also run a charity registered cat rescue, in partnership with a friend, for stray and unwanted cats and kittens for the past 10 years, called Cat Welfare Fund (Wisbech). I'm a member of Fenland Running Club and belong to Esselle Gym.4 What is the most interesting thing that has ever happened to you?I started running a couple of years ago with a view to completing the Flora London Marathon to raise money for charity, before my 50th birthday, which was last year. I fulfilled my ambition in just under five hours and it was the most amazing and humbling experience. The crowds were so supportive and seeing some of the runners in the most bizarre costumes, running for all sorts of charities, made it very emotional. So I'm going to do it all again this year!5 What do you like most about the Fens?I was born and bred here and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I like being in the countryside, not too far from the coast and there are some lovely places to visit in the area. Also my family all live within a stone's throw.6 Give us at least five pet hates.Fly tipping and litter, motorists parking illegally, foul language, the toilet seat left up, Coronation Street.7 What sort of car do you drive?Vauxhall Corsa Merit.8 What do you think about people who smoke?I don't like people smoking near me, particularly in restaurants and public areas.9 What is your favourite Fenland restaurant/pub?The Hare Arms at Stow Bardolph.10 What is the most money you spent in one day?Buying my car.11 What is the most romantic thing you have ever done?I can't think of anything. It is lost on my husband because he is the least romantic person I know.12 Would you say you are fashion conscious? Not really but I do like good quality clothes and everything has to be colour co-ordinated.13 What is on your bedside table?Bedside light, silk flower in a vase, radio/CD player/alarm clock.14. If you had £100 to give to charity, who would you give it to, and why?The Torre Argentina Cat Sanctuary in Rome. I help some friends to fund-raise about £1,000 each year which we've taken out there (at our own expense) for the past five years. Two lovely ladies work tirelessly (assisted by a few volunteers) to give a better life to the many stray and injured cats in the city. Each time we go they have made improvements to the shelter which is situated in some ruins under a main road. Many of the cats arrive in an appalling condition but are lovingly nursed back to health.15 Do you agree with the idea of private education?I'd have to say yes as one of my children attended private school for five years, but my other two children attended a state school. I think it depends on the child as to which type of education they would benefit from.16 Name a town or country you would never want to return to.Harlow. My car broke down there on my way to taking some family members to Gatwick Airport. They missed the flight and my husband had to come and rescue me as I didn't have any breakdown cover at the time - I have now!17 Who would you least like to sit next to on an aeroplane?Someone who snores.18 If you were the Prime Minister, what would you abolish?I would abolish the system that gives handouts to those who claim benefits fraudulently.19 What is the worst job you have ever had to do?Making the decision to put down a sick pet.20 Which person do you admire the most, and why?My husband because he has to put up with me.21 Your claim to fame.I was invited to Nationwide head office in Swindon last year, along with two rescue cats, to have some photos taken for an article about the cat rescue I am involved with. The article was published in our staff magazine. I felt like a star for the day. It was such a thrill seeing the finished article in print.22 What would you most like to be remembered for? That I did my share of raising money for charitable causes.
