STAFF at a doctors surgery are having a girls day out to raise money for charity when they take part in this year’s Race for Life.

Sixteen women from Cornerstone Practice in March have been in training for the 5K race at Cambridge which has already brought in £800 for Cancer Research.

Surgery health trainer Ellie Buckton said the idea came about when they were chatting about how to keep fit and decided to go for it together and raise money for a good cause at the same time.

“Some are running, some are walking and some say they will be crawling! The main thing is we will have a fun day out for a great cause,” she said.

Taking part are Ellie Buckton, Shay Lynn, Alison Fox, Heather Butler, Clare Rennison, Michelle Newport, Irene Middleton, Wendy Harrison, Renee Hovell-Thomas, Ruth Beesley and Kayleigh Kelsey, Bridget and Rebecca Clay, Sarah Fox, Joyce Aileen Joever and Daisy Rennison.
