The event was organised by Girlguiding March District to commemorate one of the most significant dates in the guiding calendar.

French and Indian food was on offer and the guides made Brazilian masks, American Teepees and Kenyan elephants.

Sue Hall, district commissioner, said: “World Thinking Day is a really important occasion for Girlguiding members.

“It is a chance for us to acknowledge that we are part of a huge movement that works to give millions of girls, young women and adults opportunities to be themselves, have fun and make a positive difference to their own and other people’s lives.”

World Thinking Day takes place on February 22 each year - a date chosen as it was the birthday of Lord Baden-Powell, who wrote “Scouting for boys”, the original scout handbook.

Girlguiding March District is keen to attract new members and volunteers. To find out more go to http://www.girlguiding.org.uk/get_involved.aspx or telephone 01223 813917
