Four men thought to be hare coursing illegally were caught by police today in March.
A police spokesman said: “Officers this afternoon received a report of males on an open field near to Grandford Drove, March.
“These males were seen on the field with dogs’ hare coursing. Officers were dispatched to the area and quickly arrived to find four males and five dogs.”
The spokesman said all four men were “reported for summons and will attend court at a later date. As well as this their vehicle has been seized by police.”
He added: “If you see any persons on land and you believe they are hare coursing please report this via 999.”
It follows an earlier report on January 7 when police were alerted by members of the public to a suspicious vehicle in the Thorney area.
Three men were seen with dogs on land hare coursing. Officers from Peterborough and Fenland made their way to the area.
The police spokesman said the vehicle was seen to leave the area of Thorney and head towards Wisbech where local officers “worked well together and managed to stop the vehicle in Pickards Way.
“The offenders were interviewed in relation to the incident and have all been reported for the offence of hare coursing and will be summoned to attend court at a later date. “Their vehicle was also seized by officers.”
Over the border, a 49 year-old man has been arrested in connection with hare coursing following an incident in Hilgay.
Police were called shortly after 3.30pm on Friday January 23 to reports of people believed to be carrying out the illegal activity on Ely Road.
The area was sealed off and police carried out a search with assistance from the NPAS (National Police Air Service) helicopter.

A man was arrested in connection with the incident and questioned at Bury Police Investigation Centre. He has been released on bail until February 16.
PC Richard Allan said: “We would like to remind people that hare coursing is an offence that will not be tolerated by police and I can assure the public that we will act promptly and robustly to pursue offenders committing this type of crime.”
