GEMMA Hankins has graduated from the University of Manchester, with a first class Bachelor of Music degree.

Daughter of Michael and Ellen Hankins, of Babble Close, March, Gemma was educated at Burrowmoor Primary School and Neale-Wade Community College.

She has been involved in music from a young age and attended university specialising in trumpet, composition and musical analysis.

As well as playing with various university ensembles, Gemma also played with the Halle Brass band and travelled to Croatia last year to play with the Sheffield Youth Orchestra, which accompanied the Bolshoi Ballet for a performance of Swan Lake.

She now lives and works in Sheffield as a brass and clarinet peripatetic music teacher in schools.
