A CRAFT fair to raise money for Cancer Research and the East Anglian Children's Hospice has got off to a flying start.

For the second year in succession traders have set up stalls in March’s Oliver Cromwell Hotel.

A wide variety of arts and crafts are on sale, including original paintings by Fenland artist John Abbott as well as handmade cards, jewellery and Easter treats.

And members of the Wisbech Machine Knitting Club are out in force, knitting jumpers and hats as eager customers look around for bargains.

Organiser Barbara Ellerbeck said this year’s event boasts 24 stalls - four more than last year.

She said: “The event was very successful last year so we thought we would do it again this year.”

She hopes they match last year’s £400 fundraising total.

The craft fair is open today (Friday, March 16) and tomorrow.
