Sixth form students from Meadowgate School were happy to get their hands dirty to help the Wisbech in Bloom team plant up a large, new flowerbed in Wisbech Park.

For some of the students, this was their first taste of gardening, for others it was an experience to add to their horticultural learning at school.

All of the students said that they had really enjoyed the activity and would like to do more planting with the Wisbech in Bloom team who demonstrated how to plant the perennials in the bed.

A school spokesman said: “This is a great opportunity for the students to get involved with their local community and they will return to the flowerbed in the summer to see how the plants have grown.”
