A GREENGROCER is gearing up for a court battle to keep his business going in its current premises.

Neil Watson and his wife Veronica are trading from a fire escape at their shop which is based in part of the Kwik Save supermarket in Whittlesey. Although Kwik Save went into liquidation last month, Mr Watson has a five-year lease on his premises.

Whittlesey Town Council and mayor Councillor Pam Potts are supporting the efforts of Alice's Fruit Sales to remain open.

Mr Watson said that the legal situation was uncertain. "We are fighting really hard to remain on the site," he said.

"Our produce is bulky and this is an ideal spot.
