Growing reputation for Delfland Nurseries after staff management award success
DELFLAND Nurseries has reinforced its reputation as one of the best places to work in Fenland after bagging a top award for its staff management.
The plant and vegetable growing specialists, based in Doddington, were handed the Investors in People award for the third time - after an assessor reviewed the company.
Managing Director John Overvoorde said: “The assessor’s report said that everyone was able to explain how they contribute to the success of the company and believe that their contribution is valued and appreciated.”
Ten members of staff completed their NVQ Level 2 in Business Improvement Techniques – Process Improvement. These were: Victoria Ayres, Andrew Clark, Joy Church, Sue Eglen, Colin Henson, Paul King, Lukas Lamacka, Chris Searle, Sean Searle and Dawn Veal.
Chris Searle, who manages the nursery shop, also completed an NVQ Level 3 in Production Horticulture.
The company, which employs around 40 staff, has also celebrated the long service of Sean Searle and Norma Knock, who have recently completed 25 years with Delfland.
Director Jill Vaughan said: “Involving staff in the company is something that we pride ourselves on. We have an appraisal system, a newsletter and monthly production meetings. It’s good to know that our staff are happy.”
