CHATTERIS man Andrew Buttriss had been the victim of abuse before he pushed Lee Ivison and grabbed him round the neck.

"Mr Ivison had been abusing him and wanting to fight," solicitor Jonathan Phillips told Fenland magistrates. "My client did not want to get involved."

Buttriss, 23, of Station Street, admitted he pushed Mr Ivison, and grabbed him round the throat.

"He was provoked, and his actions were impulsive," explained Mr Phillips.

Buttriss, a qualified painter and decorator, was ordered to carry out 60 hours unpaid work and pay £60 costs.
