Labradors and Spaniels were hunting down their 'prey' as part of gundog tests held near March on Sunday.

But the 42 entries sniffed out dummies of rabbits and pheasants at Frank's Farm, located on the B1101 between March and Coldham for the event, organised by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation.

The test simulated conditions in the field, with three different tests held in the morning.

Competitors were judged on their steadiness, obedience, the ability of the handler to control the dog and point it to the right dummy and for the way the dog worked the scent in the wind.

The dogs and handlers were whittled down to eight for the afternoon, with first place eventually going to Pamela Scott, with her Labrador, Sorrel. Second place went to Andrew Clarke with his Labrador, Gunner, with third taken by Cheryl Hall and her Labrador, Ellie. Highest placed first-time handler was Steve Bennett with his Labrador Magna Carta (Sindy).
