Four unemployed young people spent five weeks training with a March beetroot producer ... and two of them have come away with jobs.

As part of their Seeds To Success programme, G’s worked with four people to help them boost their job prospects.

The programme was aimed at 18-24 year olds that are not in full time education or employment (NEETS).

The young people split their time between the classroom - getting three recognised qualifications - and work on the production line.

They received a wage, had weekly one to one meetings to discuss development and future career aspirations and were supported by Wisbech Job Centre.

A G’s spokesman said: “The applicants have all thoroughly enjoyed the programme and have learnt a phenomenal amount.

“We will be employing two of the applicants and hope to run another programme at March within the next year.”

G’s was established in 1952 as a family business and has grown into a national company supplying retailers in the UK, Europe and US.
