Three meetings are open for people to voice their concerns about the future of hospital services at Doddington, Wisbech and Ely.
A whistle blower has disclosed confidential documents showing the minor injuries units and outpatient clinics are under threat and that the decision to close the units has already been made.
Meetings are open to the public this month for people to air their views. They are:
• Doddington on Tuesday August 23 from 7pm to 9pm at Doddington Recreation Hall
• Wisbech on Thursday August 25 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Rosmini Centre.
• Ely on Tuesday August 16 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Maltings.
The meetings have been arranged by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group.
NE Cambs MP Steve Barclay is fighting to stop the closures after he was shown a confidential report setting out the proposals of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
The internal report was circulated in May by the group’s urgent and emergency care programme director Ian Weller.
Mr Weller outlined possible scenarios but confirmed “the only option” was to close all three units.
Mr Barclay is furious since he believes the promised consultation due to start later this year will be a sham in the light of the whistle blower’s revelations.
A spokesman for the CCG said that a review highlighted that the three MIUs in the Fens - Ely, Wisbech and Doddington - do not meet national quality standards.
“No decisions have been made about the future of these services and we are looking at a number of options for urgent and minor injury services in East Cambs and Fenland,” they said.
“We need to think about how we can provide all these services in a safe, high quality way.
“The CCG is also looking for a new provider to take on Outpatient services from April 2017, following Cambridgeshire Community Services having given notice in May 2015.
“We know how valued and important these services are to local people and we remain committed to engaging with staff, clinicians, patients, public and partners as we develop our thinking. All of this work is still at an early stage.”
The meetings are open to all and will begin with a presentation, followed by a question and answer session.
