People in Whittlesey will get their say on proposals for a 170-home development on the site of a former plant nursery in the town.
Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey is drawing up plans for about 170 new high-quality homes on land to the south of Eastrea Road – a site which has been allocated for development in Fenland District Council’s Local Plan.
Further information about the proposals will be unveiled during a public exhibition to be held at The Manor Centre, Station Road, Whittlesey, on Wednesday June 17 between 3pm and 8pm.
The public consultation event will give residents, businesses, community groups and other interested parties the chance to find out more about the scheme and discuss the plans with the Taylor Wimpey project team.
Comments received from those who attend the event will help to shape the development proposals before a new planning application is finalised for submission to Fenland District Council in due course.

Jessica Miln, land manager for Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, says: “As a considerate, responsible developer we want to give people the chance to have their say on development plans for their area – and this is why we are inviting the local community to find out more about our proposals for a new residential development off Eastrea Road, Whittlesey.
“We are confident that this scheme will provide an attractive development of high-quality homes to meet a range of requirements and provide much-needed housing for local people on a site which has already been allocated for development by Fenland District Council.

“Anyone who comes along to the public exhibition on Wednesday June 17 will be able to speak to members of our project team to find out more about our proposals and provide their feedback to help us develop and refine the emerging scheme.”
The proposed development site covers an area of about 14 acres and is located to the south of the A605 Eastrea Road on the eastern edge of the Whittlesey settlement area. A separate residential development is under construction by Larkfleet Homes on land opposite the site to the north.
A previous application for a new supermarket to be provided on the land has now been withdrawn, and with plans now submitted for another new supermarket elsewhere in Whittlesey, Taylor Wimpey is bringing forward proposals for an entirely residential development on the site.
The development will comprise a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties including a small selection of bungalows.
Taylor Wimpey’s public exhibition is taking place at The Manor Centre, Station Road, Whittlesey, PE7 1UA.
Those who are unable to attend will be able to access the information displayed at the event online at www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/eastrea-road from June 17 onwards.
