“We’re offering a £1,000 reward per dog as we believe there is a possibility they have been separated as we have received information from the public that one was recently offered for sale.

“For the sake of my parents who are utterly heartbroken, we need closure for them.

“We need to know where they are, especially in this extremely hot weather as dachshunds are more susceptible to heatstroke and dehydration.

“No questions will be asked, we just want them home.

“If anybody has bought one of these stolen dogs or has any information please contact us on 01945 774377 or 07432706306.”

Four female miniature dachshunds were taken from the property and owner Christine Holden-Storey believes the thieves struck within a 30-45 minute time slot having sussed out the specially built dog house earlier in the day.

Christine, who is a registered breeder of dachshunds, has kept the breed for over 45 years.

She said: “I was nipping out to check on one of the dogs every hour because it wasn’t well. I had gone out just before 9pm and then went again about 9.45pm.

“When I got to the dog house the door had been jemmied open, two other dogs were terrified and running around the garden and the four others: Phoebe and her daughter Lola, Millie and Florence, were missing.

“Phoebe is quite elderly. Whoever did this must have sussed the place out in daylight and then timed the break-in carefully because I was in and out of the dog house all day and there was a man in the field next door putting fencing up.”
