DIANE Evans grew up with a strong feeling she had been separated from a brother or sister.
Now she knows she was right ... and is hoping readers can help find her brother.
When Diane's mum, Sheila, died six weeks ago, she discovered an advert which had appeared in a local paper trying to trace Sheila Mary Hulse, who had lived in Trinity Road, Wisbech.
She said: "I knew then that someone had tried to trace mum but she hadn't done anything about it."
Diane, who lives in Corby, never knew her father and her mum never told her who he was.
After finding the advert in her mum's belongings, Diane decided she would start searching to see if her feelings about having a sibling were correct.
She contacted the registrar at March and explained it was only a feeling and she had no dates or proof that a sibling existed.
She said: "I told her that I was born in 1953 so it could have been around 1955 or 56.
"I was gobsmacked when they telephoned to say they had found a birth certificate and I could come and collect it."
Diane now knows she has a brother, Martin, who was born at the Bowthorpe Maternity Hospital, in Wisbech, on February 25, 1957.
The birth was registered on March 1 and the baby was adopted.
"No-one could believe that I just knew there was someone else.
"I always thought there was something missing from my life but I presumed it was my father.
"Now I know he does exist I am desperate to get in touch with him."
As a child, Diane stayed with a Whittlesey couple she believes were called Mr and Mrs Ashworth.
During that time, her mum worked at a cafe in Whittlesey called The Copper Kettle.
Diane said: "Please, please get in touch, I would love to get to know you."
