March heptathlete Louise Hazel has come out of retirement to defend her Commonwealth title in Glasgow this summer.

The 28-year-old, who won gold in Delhi in 2010, retired in September to concentrate on her fitness and nutrition business.

Her personal best of 6,166 points, set in Germany in 2011, makes her the seventh best British heptathlete of all time.

She said: “I’m in better shape than I thought I was in. I’m really excited and I can’t wait to get started.

“I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t think I could successfully defend my Commonwealth crown - I’m definitely targeting the podium.”
