VISITORS to Whittlesey had the chance to climb the tallest church in Fenland on Saturday.

St Mary's Church steeple was open to raise money for two causes.

The chance to climb the 200ft tower was offered by Fivejays Pet Care, based at Pondersbridge, along with church warden Sue Palmer.

More than 75 people turned up to view the skyline across the county and, along with hand-made cards and a prize tombola, raised about £200.

A portion will go towards buying new tracky tubes for Milly, a dog cared for at Fivejays that was found in Whittlesey tip five years ago after someone had tried to strangle her.

The other portion will go towards equipment for the Fivejays dog training agility fund.
