Travel to work plans for thousands were affected today as police responded to a growing number of emergencies.
The A47 Wisbech to Guyhirn road saw early delays when a lorry overturned, quickly followed by a second overturned lorry at Goosetree junction on the A141 at Westry that added to the delays.
Homes in Eastrea, Coates, March and Whittlesey were among 8,000 customers without power but slowly engineers are restoring supplies.
In East Cambridgeshire the A10 at Waterbeach was blocked in both directions following accidents.
In Wisbech council officials examined the possible damage caused when a tree in St Peter’s Church toppled over during the night.

Power cuts have been reported all around the East of England.
Power cuts affected an estimated 147,000 people this morning in the East of England alone according to www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk, they’ve so far managed to restore power to 100,200 people but 47,000 are still without power.
A statement on their website says that they still have engineers working on restoring power and urge people to stay away from damaged power lines and immediately report it to them.

School closures include Friday Bridge, Fen Ditton, Christchurch and Sutton (near Ely) although Elm primary school, that did wonder if it could open, did so at 10am.
