Continuing to provide a quality service at Hinchingbrooke Hospital must be priority, Huntingdon MP Jonathan Djanogly said.
In the wake of Circle’s announcement to pull out of the Huntingdon hospital, Mr Djanogly, who is due to visit the facility today, said: “My priority is the ongoing care of patients. We are not talking about an overnight handover, it will probably take four to six months.
“I am going to the hospital today to talk to them about the reasons behind their decision.
“We have got to make sure there is still the continuation of services at Hinchingbrooke, and those discussions will take place over the next few weeks.”
Shailesh Vara, MP for North West Cambridgeshire, said: “The most important issue here is protection of frontline services for the public. In such circumstances the Department of Health provides alternative arrangements and in the meantime I am seeking an urgent meeting with Jeremy Hunt, the Secretary of State for Health.”
