A celebration of the resilience of the human spirit takes place for Holocaust Memorial Day at an inter-faith service later this month.
The service is at King’s Lynn Town Hall at noon on Sunday January 26 and will include representatives from the local Jewish, Muslim and Christian communities.
Borough Mayor, Elizabeth Watson, said: “Holocaust Memorial Day is a great opportunity to demonstrate to local people of all faiths that we stand united in our condemnation of the atrocities which have taken place in the past and to highlight the need for tolerance and understanding in future generations.”
The service, led by Canon Christopher Ivory, is one of many taking place across the country to mark the anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camp at Auschwitz in 1945.
Each year the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust encourages people to remember victims of both the Second World War atrocities and more recent genocides and to learn lessons of intolerance and discrimination.
