A BUILDING site may be the last place you would expect to find an art exhibition ... but that is just what is happening in March this weekend.

Visitors to 103 Nene Parade can look at images displayed in the windows of the house being renovated by American artist Bethe Bronson.

Bethe and fellow artist Karen Harvey came up with the unusual idea of "Building Sight" when they realised work on the house would not be finished in time for their exhibition.

The two women had signed up for the Fenland Open Studios some months ago when it looked as if work on the house, some of which dates to the 1700s, would be finished.

Bethe said: "We knew people couldn't come in the house because it isn't safe but we didn't want to let people down.

"We have even had a skip in the garden with a discarded window in it with images on, so people should look out for some surprises."

On the outside of the windows will be small prints by Bethe and Karen, and if someone likes an image they can take it away with them.

The open studios event has been organised by the Fenland Visual Arts Collective, which was set up in 2004 to improve the quality and quantity of opportunities for artists and access to the visual arts.

Work by Bethe and Karen will be on show between 11am-5pm tomorrow and Sunday.

# Other studios throughout the area are also open as part of the scheme. For the full list see our website.
