Pupils from a Whittlesey school are joining with thousands of other youngsters to take part in International Walk to School Month.

Park Lane Primary School has teamed up with developer David Wilson Homes South Midlands, which has supported the campaign by donating 100 hi-visibility bag tags for pupils to wear on their way to and from school.

Lucy Porter, nursery teacher at Park Lane Primary School, said: “The children were all really excited to see the brightly-coloured bag tags and when they were told they would glow in the dark some of the children were very keen to test them straight away!”

John Dillon, managing director for David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “Our development, Buttercross Park, is located near to Park Lane Primary School, so as families move into their new homes it is important for us to support International Walk to School Month and encourage families to stay safe while walking to and from school.

“By offering pupils a helping hand and donating hi-visibility bag tags they should be encouraged to walk to school and can stay safe as the dark nights draw in.”
