SPEAKER at the Homemakers Club's October meeting was Cambridgeshire historian Michael Petty on 'The 1947 Fen Floods'. He showed slides to illustrates his talek which included how the Fens were drained 100 years ago sand the 1947 severe frost followed by heavy snow which thawed and caused the flooding, leaving 100 square miles of Fenland under water. Chairman Marion Edwards gave the vote of thanks.

Winner of a competition for a photograph of a Fen scene were Jane Bedford, Val Rush and Eileen Bradbury. Draw winners were June Gore, Verna Cowlan, Maureen Mason and Sheila Christoff.
