I WRITE with regard to your article concerning the plight of the Fenland residents who bought homes on new developments and have found themselves with estate roads that have never been finished.

I note that Mr Gary Garford of Fenland District Council states that the solicitors acting for the purchasers should have ensured that some monies were held back until the roads were finished and ‘adopted’. If this is normal practice then whether the acting solicitors were recommended by the developers or not, it would seem that by failing to thus protect their clients, the solicitors involved may well have been negligent and in consequence be liable for their client’s’ losses.

One would hope that there might be some public spirited solicitors locally who will volunteer to act on behalf of these unfortunate residents, and sue for damages arising from negligence on a ‘no win no fee’ basis.
