A cricket club has entered a planning application to create a dedicated practice area for its players.
Whittlesey Cricket Club wants to build training facilities close to its pitch at The Manor Leisure Centre, in Station Road.
If successful, the new practice area will be located on the edge of land currently used as playing fields, south east of the cricket square.
There will also be a 3m high mesh fence and a storage container for the club’s equipment.
The change of use plans were validated by Fenland District Council on February 10.
On its website, Whittlesey Cricket Club says it “offers affordable fun cricket and membership to people regardless of their age and ability”.
We are an ambitious club currently going through a re-building phase and improving our facilities,” it says.
The club currently plays in Division 2 of the Rutland League and is always on the lookout for new members to either play or help with the running of the club.
Last year, Whittlesey Cricket Club won the 2022 Rutland Division 2 ground of the year award.
