A FIVE week road show gets under way later this month to ask for suggestions from people in the Fens how they would like to spend £1 million.
The money has been pledged by Circle Anglia Housing Association as part of the package offered to Fenland District Council when tenants voted to move out of district council control.
Fiona Bebbington, Policy and Performance Manager, of Circle Anglia, said: "The Community Fund Road Show gives everyone in Fenland the opportunity to let us know how they want to spend their £1 million.
"We want as many residents and voluntary and community groups to give their ideas as possible - the overall aim is that the money should go to projects and schemes that benefit the Fenland community and attract additional funding streams."
The road show will be visiting housing areas in all of the towns in Fenland as well as markets, supermarkets and leisure centres and will also be at events in the villages.
Roddons Housing Association has been set up by Circle Anglia to administer the 4,000 council homes in Fenland being transferred.
Ms Bebbington said the £1 million Community Fund will be distributed in three ways and over the next five years:
* Rolling grants of up to £3,000
* Larger amounts of funding above £3,000. These can be specific projects or support for capital bids. Larger bids will be encouraged to look at match-funding possibilities
* Funding of one-off initiatives primarily for Roddon's tenants such as children's sports days, environmental campaigns and poetry and musical days.
Applications must meet one of five criteria ranging from embracing equality and diversity to improving the quality of life.
