Two men died in a two separate collisions that happened in villages on the outskirts of Peterborough over the Bank Holiday weekend.

In the first a man died on Peakirk Road, Northborough at about 1.45pm on Monday following a collision involving a grey Renault Kangoo and a black Vauxhall Astra.

In the second a man died in Station Road, Ailsworth at about 1.52pm following a single vehicle collision involving a blue BMW.

In the Northborough incident the driver of the Renault Kangoo, a 24-year-old man from Peterborough, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the Vauxhall Astra, a 28-year-old woman, and her two young passengers suffered serious injuries and were taken to Peterborough City Hospital.

The road was closed between Church Street and Peking Road while recovery took place and was reopened at approximately 7pm.

A 37-year-old man from Peterborough, who was the front seat passenger, died in the collision in Ailsworth.

The driver, a man in his 30s, and a rear seat passenger suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital.

A MAN has died following a collision in Ailsworth yesterday (August 28).

Sadly, the front seat passenger of the vehicle, a 37-year-old man from Peterborough, died at the scene.
