Two friends are running a 100 mile race through the Cotswolds to raise money for a children’s charity.

Stuart Webb, 36, and David Kerridge, 44, will be putting their best feet forward for the event which will see them run from the picturesque town of Chipping Camden to the Georgian town of Bath over a four-day period.

Funds raised from the marathon effort will go towards CLIC Sargent which is a children’s cancer charity that provides emotional, financial and practical support for children, young people and their families whose lives have been turned upside-down by cancer.

Mr Webb, of Emneth, said they decided to do something for the charity after his 22 month daughter Evie was given the cancer all-clear.

He said: “When she was born she had a bump behind her ear and after many tests and a lot of worry we were given the all clear we so desperately wanted.

“Along the way we met parents who were not so lucky and we wanted to give something back to help others.”

The pair are training for the August event and have also organised a fun fund raising night at Mendi’s on Saturday May `10.

Mendi’s has offered the premises for free to help raise money for the charity.

They have also arranged a bingo night on June 8.

Mr Webb will be known to those in Leverington as his father runs Brian Webbs newsagents while Mr Kerridge is manager of Russell Clarke’s newsagents in York Road, Wisbech.

The Cotswold 100 will take them along the beautiful Cotswold Way Trail and en route they will pass through stunning English countryside.
