Hundreds of people took part in two charity events at the Manor Centre in Whittlesey at the weekend, raising nearly £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support’s work in the Fenland area.
Sixty people joined in each of the three high-energy fitness classes held on Friday evening, with most of them attending all three sessions.
And about 150 people packed the centre for the second fundraiser on Saturday night – a music night featuring live music by local band MotorCity Vipers, plus a disco and raffle.
The Manor’s New Vision fitness instructors were also auctioned off, with the highest bidders being rewarded with special personal training sessions or group classes.
Macmillan Cancer Support is the charity chosen by Fenland District Council chairman, Councillor Ken Mayor.
He said: “It was fantastic that so many people came along on both nights and succeeded in raising so much money. All of it will go towards supporting the tremendous work that Macmillan does in this area.”
