Rail enthusiasts in Cambridgeshire took a nostalgic step back in time at the weekend during the Friends of March Station’s 1940s event.

Historic railway memorabilia, vintage displays, a book sale and refreshments helped raise £277 towards the group’s funds.

Adrian Sutterby, chairman of the Friends of March Station, said: “We had a very successful day and welcomed hundreds of people to the station.

“We only had good reports from people. The station is an important part of the local community, having connected people to the capital for more than 130 years.”

The Friends of March Station’s next event is an open day on September 10.
