STUDENTS and staff from Wisbech Grammar School were in the pink when they joined 7500 other participants in the Race for Life, staged in Cambridge city centre.

Twelve girls and three teachers, Mrs Monika Skinner, Mrs Alison Sloan and Ms Kate Flanagan, ran the five-kilometre race in aid of Cancer Research UK, starting at Parker’s Piece and finishing at Jesus Green.

Star runner fromt he group was year eight pupil Mollie Allen, 13, who completed the course in 22 minutes 30 seconds, putting her in 22nd place.

Teacher Geoff Howes said: “It was a superb event and the members of the group now have the task of collecting their sponsorship money, which is probably even harder than the run. I would also like to congratulate the three teachers, who ran the whole course without a single walk break.”
